About the Conference
Esteemed delegates and MUN advisors,
We cordially invite you to the 3nd Anavryta Model Lyceum United Nations Conference (AML-MUN) which will be held on Saturday, February 22nd to Sunday, February 23rd, 2020. For two days, secondary school students from all over Greece will have the chance to participate in a simulation of the work of the United Nations.
We are very proud of AML-MUN being a non-profit MUN conference in Greece organized by a public school for three consecutive years. Recognizing the importance of such conferences, we aim to promote interest in the work of the United Nations among young people from a variety of school backgrounds and we hope to introduce new members to the exciting world of MUN.
During the two days of the conference participants will engage in the official diplomatic procedures of the UN such as analyzing, debating and reaching conclusions on worldwide issues of current affairs. Our agenda includes several different topics from the restitution of cultural artifacts and the transparency and accountability in the functioning of political parties, to the issue of monopoly abuse of power of international corporations and the righteous means of obtaining citizenship as well as the status of minorities. A wide variety of topics will be covered by our conference that features four General Assembly Committees, the Security Council as well as the Economic and Social Council. This year's Conference will include a special conference on Human Trafficking, an atrocious form of international crime, which constitutes modern slavery.
Once again, we will feature a Crisis committee for those seeking a more impromptu and challenging debating experience.
Last but not least, this year a simulation of the International Court of Justice will be available for experienced MUNers with a particular interest in expanding their knowledge on legal procedures and gaining deeper understanding of how legal disputes between states are settled.
This event embodies our vision of expanding and strengthening the MUN community among the Greek schools. All our efforts are concentrated on making this conference an enjoyable and educational experience always to remember.
We look forward to receiving your registration and seeing you in February!
